Blake Shelton will be bringing a special guest to perform with him at “The 49th annual ACM Awards.” Shakira will hit the stage to sing “Medicine” with Shelton. Radio.com reported on March 31, 2014 that Shelton’s fellow team leader on “The Voice” will be joining him for a live performance of the new duet the pair recorded for Shakira’s new album.
Executive producer R.A. Clark said “We’re excited to have Shakira come join us in Las Vegas.” Clark explained that Shakira’s team contacted them about having the two perform the song saying “They reached out to us and said we have a new cut with Blake, would you be interested?” Clark added “As producers, we’re always looking for those moments when we can bring folks together. And we think those two together will be great for the show.”
The executive vice president of CBS Specials & Live Programming Jack Sussman said “Blake Shelton is one of the best live performers out there today, and Shakira is an amazing singer and live entertainer” adding the performance “will be something live you don’t get to see every day.”
The Band Perry will be kicking off the nights performances with “Chainsaw.” Keith Urban, George Strait, Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Lady Antebellum and Miranda Lambert are also set to take the stage to perform while Garth Brooks will be presenting Merle Haggard with the Crystal Milestone Award.
