Shaheen down, Gregg up on Senate approval scale

Public Policy Polling shows Republican U.S. Sen. Judd Gregg will finish on a high note of popularity, while Democratic colleague Jeanne Shaheen is finishing her second year in Washington with less than favorable numbers.

PPP said it polled the approval ratings of 59 senators, including the two from the Granite State.

The average GOP Senator has a 43 percent approval and 37 percent disapproval spread, according to PPP, while the average Democrats comes down at 44 percent approval and 41 percent disapproval.

Net approval ratings (the difference between the approval/disapproval) compiled by PPP show Gregg (52/29) among the most popular with +23.

He shares the high approval ratings with: Amy Klobuchar at +30, Scott Brown at +24, Judd Gregg at +23, and then Barbara Mikulski, Mark Warner, Chuck Schumer, and Olympia Snowe all at +22.
Shaheen came in at 41/46, a net approval rating of -5.

She wasn't at the bottom of the list.

That distinction went to Roland Burris, the Democrat from Illinois who had a net approval rating of -39.

PPP said the most popular Senate delegation is neighboring Maine, where moderate Republicans Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins add up to a +39 approval spread.
