Shaheen doubles-down on her lies that she didn’t wreck women’s health care

Today Senator Jeanne Shaheen released a statement that completely lies about her advocacy for women’s health care in New Hampshire. As previously reported, Shaheen absolutely cut access to women’s health care in the Granite State by driving the majority of health insurers out. That left women with little choices and caused health insurance to skyrocket from one of the lowest costs in the country to one of the highest.

In her press release, Shaheen claims she “has been fighting to expand affordable access to health services for New Hampshire women.” This is yet another of her numerous lies she repeatedly tells women voters. The cost for health care rose to the highest only next to Massachusetts thanks to Shaheen as Governor. The cost for health insurance rose for Granite State women thanks to Shaheen’s vote for Obamacare. Women lost their health insurance, doctors and hospitals thanks to her vote.

Shaheen is also a supporter of Planned Parenthood, which taxpayer dollars fund with millions of dollars a year. Apparently that isn’t considered “access to basic contraception and family planning” because Shaheen was complaining the other day that she would work around the Supreme Court ruling to be sure women had access to contraception. If Planned Parenthood isn’t providing access to these things, what are hard-earned taxpayer dollars paying for exactly? So which is it? From Shaheen’s press release:

For more than two decades, Jeanne Shaheen has been fighting to expand affordable access to health services for New Hampshire women. As New Hampshire’s Governor, she signed into law bipartisan legislation requiring insurance coverage for contraceptive services. In the Senate, she has been an outspoken advocate for women’s reproductive rights and expanded access to basic contraception and family planning care with no out of pocket costs to 253,000 women in New Hampshire.

When the Executive Council waged a war on women’s access to health care, Jeanne Shaheen fought back. She urged the federal Health and Human Services Department to provide a direct federal contract with Planned Parenthood of Northern New England to restore these critical health services.

Jeanne Shaheen makes a difference for the more than 17,000 women in New Hampshire who count on Planned Parenthood for affordable access to basic health services like breast exams, birth control, and cancer screenings.
Jeanne Shaheen’s leadership gained passage of history-making legislation, known as the Shaheen Amendment. It ended more than 30 years of unequal treatment of women in the military and provides health insurance coverage for abortion for women serving in the military who are victims of rape or incest.

Shaheen’s leadership gained history-making alright. She was the downfall of health insurance in New Hampshire that has continually hurt women since she put certain laws into place. Shaheen is on the defensive with her women’s health care lies. She knows full well her legislation has been hurting women since she was Governor of the state. To add insult to injury, she then voted for Obamacare; lying about how it would affect women in the meantime. The jig is up and women are finally paying attention so Shaheen is doubling-down on her lies that she didn’t wreck women’s health care in New Hampshire when the record proves she did exactly that.
