What wasn’t widely reported about the CBO report that came out on Tuesday is the fact that millions of Americans could lose employer-based health insurance plans thanks to Obamacare. This actually shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who has read Obamacare or followed the debacle since 2009. Both Senator Shaheen and Representative Shea-Porter knew this would happen because the CBO reported this before the bill was voted into law.
In 2014, millions of people across the country and thousands in New Hampshire will lose their employer-based health insurance coverage thanks to Obamacare. Unfortunately most won’t find this out until open enrollment towards the end of this year.
According to the CBO from an article published by Heritage yesterday:
CBO and JCT project that, as a result of the ACA, between 6 million and 7 million fewer people will have employment-based insurance coverage each year from 2016 through 2024 than would be the case in the absence of the ACA. That change is the net result of projected increases and decreases in offers of health insurance from employers and changes in enrollment by workers and their families. [Emphasis added]
In the meantime, both Shaheen and Shea-Porter still 100% support their votes for Obamacare. Representative Kuster didn’t vote for Obamacare but she also supports this behemoth failure that is hurting Granite Staters. Many people like their employer-based plans for a variety of reasons: it’s one of the benefits of employment; pre-existing conditions don’t cross employer-based plans so that’s not a worry if one switches jobs; employers are often able to provide lower cost plans to employees because they have a large number enrolled or they are enrolled in an exchange and employees don’t have to worry about finding a private plan if they don’t have the desire to do so.
Again Shaheen’s and Shea-Porters big lie ‘If you like your plan you can keep your plan’ rears its ugly head. Thousands in the Granite State have already lost their plans, doctors and hospitals; thousands more will lose their employer-based plans in the coming year. New Hampshire residents have suffered enough already under Obamacare yet Democrats are now pushing Obamacare’s Medicaid Expansion, which is far worse than most understand. In light of the painful failings of Obamacare, maybe it’s time Shaheen and Shea-Porter stop lying and start telling the truth. Obamacare is bad for the state and the country
