Last Thursday, children from Hoover's own SMCS travelled to our state capitol for the fourth grade annual field trip. Students were treated to tours of the "white house" in this the first capitol of the Confederate States of America. Students also learned about Rosa Parks and the Civil Rights Movement which was birthed here in part as a result of her brave stance on that bus long ago.

The children capped off the day with a surprise meeting with our governor, Bob Riley, and later passed by his house in their tour bus.

It was a beautiful day and a great time was had by both the students and the parents.
