Wondering what kind of fun you can stir up this weekend in the Bay Area? Check out the "Be Mine Valentine's Day Adopt-A-Thon" being held at the San Francisco SPCA adoption center. Their goal is to find 120 forever homes for their adoptable charges and are promising a weekend packed with educational, fun and some unconventionally hip happenings.
Friday evening kicks off with a happy hour from 4-8p.m. where you can dine from the famed Flexx Bronco's Voodoo Van and rub elbows with Jackson Galaxy, a.k.a "Cat Daddy". If you're so inclined, Ken Een of Frisco Tattoo will be offering animal-themed work for $30 and these aren't the kind that rub off so young kids should attend on Saturday. Adoption fees for pets who would love to join your family are outrageously low and correspond with the date so $10, $11 or $12 respectively.
Saturday is a family-friendly affair complete with children's activities and a puppy kissing booth. Mid-day features a Cat Mojo workshop with Jackson Galaxy and don't miss the animal behavior Q&A with Dr. Jeannine Berger from 3-4p.m. Don't forget to take a close look at all the adoptable dogs and cats while you're there. Sunday will be dedicated to adoptions so if you'd like to skip the crowds and festivities, schedule a visit to the SF FPCA adoption center between 10a.m.-5p.m. that day.
