Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder that occurs after exposure to a life-threatening situation. Symptoms of PTSD can persist for years; however, there is always some type of treatment that can help.

Search for a professional with experience and training in treating PTSD and anxiety. The types of professionals to look for are psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric nurses, and social workers. Some substance abuse counselors may also have experience with PTSD.
