On January 12th, San Francisco’s Cartoon Art Museum is hosting a Portfolio Day for the Center for Cartoon Studies (CCS) in River Junction, Vermont. This is an opportunity for those wanting to learn about the institution, as it is partnered with this museum, to help teach us West Coasters what the CCS has to offer.
On this day, visitors will be able to learn about the MFA and certificate programs, take a virtual tour of the campus, meet the CCS faculty and alumni including Alec Longstreth, Andy Warner, and Jon Fine. There will also be an art demonistration of animation and color from designer Jenny Hansen. Plus, admissions portfolio reviews will be conducted, so bring either a stetchbook, minicomic, comic pages, or URL. Also, a light lunch will be served.
This event will begin at 11 am, with an overview of the CCS. At noon, there will be the art demos, as well as the portfolio reviews for prospective students. And finally, the event will conclude with a 75-minute documentary film, titled Cartoon College. Directed by Tara Wray and Josh Melrod, this film will help give students an idea of what it is like to attend CCS, and perhaps what to expect.
Space is limited. Those highly encouraged to attend are not only prospective students and applicants, but also high school and college students. Also there will also be a special application fee waiver, if you submit a completed Admissions Applications in advance, or bring it with you to the Porfolio Day event.
