A member of the San Francisco Gay Basketball Association (SFGBA), the boys of the San Francisco Rock Dogs Basketball team spend their Sunday not on the court but inside at Lookout selling raffle tickets and jello shots to raise money for the 2009 Gay Games in Cologne, Germany.
Team member Francis Broome said, “We are the defending Gold Medalist; winning the Medal at the 2006 Gay Games in Chicago, Illinois. We haven’t lost a game since 2006.”
The team has been featured on “Shirts and Skins,” a series on popular television network Logo. Logo's programming caters to the LGBT community . Broome describes the team as “a bunch a gay, out and proud men that enjoy basketball.”
The San Francisco Gay Basketball Association has been around for 25 years. Broome adds, “the SFGBA provides us a safe places to play.”
“At JOCK Sunday,” Broome began, “we don’t have a goal in mind but from previous JOCKS, we have raised from $1,000.00 to $1,500.00 but we are more looking for the visibility.”
The 12 member team include Broome, Simon Griffin, Jay White, Stuart Leuong, Petter Hannibal, Mike Suvvillon, Courtney Pop, Jamel Lewis, Rory Ray, Windell Austin, Marco Majors, and Chris Johnson.
