On the noon-time news here in San Francisco, one Marine is quoted as having said, "Have a nice day," as he urinates.

In a statement released today, the Marine Corps has told press that so far there has been no verification of the origin or of the authenticity of the said YouTube video.

And it also told press that the actions that can be seen on the video are inconsistent with Marine values.

The Marine Corps did say, according to the USA Today newspaper, that in the Muslim world there could be a "strong backlash" because of the contents of the video. The Marine Corps has stated that the actions related to the Taliban corpses are highly disrespectful.

Ed Buice, who is a spokesman for the Navy Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), has told press that the case has been passed along to that worldwide law enforcement association.

The video has been condemned by the Council on Islamic-American Relations.  This group, based in Washington D.C., is a Muslim civil rights and advocacy group.

The group stated, in a letter to the Defense Secretary, Leon Panetta:

"We condemn this apparent desecration of the dead as a violation of our nation's military regulations and of international laws of war prohibiting such disgusting and immoral actions."

"If verified as authentic, the video shows behavior that is totally unbecoming of American military personnel and that could ultimately endanger other soldiers and civilians," stated the letter.

At the Pentagon, where the Marine Corps are headquartered, a statement was sent out that read:  "The actions portrayed are not consistent with our core values and are not indicative of the character of the Marines in our Corps. This matter will be fully investigated."

As of now, it is not yet known who took the video, nor who posted it on Youtube.com
