SF learns how Amber Alert toddler, Madeline Samaan-Fay, died (photos)
Placerville, CA -- San Francisco residents are learning in top news that the little girl Madeline Samaan-Fay, who was the subject of an Amber Alert search, died of carbon monoxide poisoning.
The carbon monoxide poisoning came from the exhaust pipe of the SUV 2-year old Madeline Samaan-Fay and her father, Mourad Samaan were in, according to Mourad "Moni" Samaan's father, says the Sacramento Bee.
San Francisco resident Donal Witham, says, "I am very sad to hear this. Her father did not need to kill her, she did nothing wrong."
The bodies of Madeline Samaan-Fay and Mourad Samaan were found inside the SUV in the Grizzly Flats area of El Dorado County, near Placerville, CA. The SUV had been driven to a remote area owned by the father.
Authorities have not confirmed what Makram Samaan, the grandfather, has said. An autopsy will still be carried out. The kidnapping of Madeline Samaan-Fay lead to a statewide Amber Alert.
Makram Samaan told press about the ugly custody fight between his son and the girl's mother.
But he spoke of what a loving father his son Moni was. "He potty-trained his daughter," said Makram Samaan. "He taught her how to swim and kayak and bought her a small guitar and they'd play and sing together."
According to the LA Times, Madeline was abducted Aug. 7, but because of rules involving abductions by parents, an Amber Alert was not announced until Friday, five days later.
Police became afraid for Madeline's life. SFgate.com reported that, according to police sources, "The guy's gone electronically dark. No cell phone, no banking, no e-mail, no nothing. He was formerly in contact with family members. ... He has never essentially disappeared like this."
Madeline and her father had not, in fact, been seen since they were spotted on a store's surveillance video on the day she was abducted.
