SF hears: North Korea won't change (photos, video)
Both North and South Korea may never come to an agreement
Top news viewers in San Francisco may have been expecting that, now that Kim Jong-il has died, there might be some change in North Korea.
Not so, says newser.com. North Korea announced today that there would be no change now that Kim Jong Il has died. There was a recent mass tribute to the leader recently. (See that article here: SF learns: Mass tribute to N Korea's Kim Jong-il (photos, video))
"We declare solemnly and confidently that the foolish politicians around the world, including the puppet group in South Korea, should not expect any change from us," reported officials in a statement, mentioned by the BBC.
Furthermore, the statement went on to say that the North would "have no dealings" with the current South Korea president Lee Myung-bak's "group of traitors forever."
The National Defense Commission, criticized South Korea for its "show of enmity" which "culminated in its act of blocking South Koreans who wanted to visit Pyongyang to mourn the demise of leader Kim Jong Il."
South Korea did allow a few citizens to go to North Korea after Kim Jong-Il died, but that move does not seem to have made the North happy.
Officials reported to the press that Seoul had brought about "a war-like atmosphere" when it put its military on high alert after Kim Jong-il died. (The body of Kim Jong-Il was previously shown at the palace, click on the blue link for that article. )
According to CNN, a statement released to reporters said that North Korea's "sea of tears" will eventually become "retaliatory fire to burn all the group of traitors to the last one."
Tensions remain high in the area.
