SAN FRANCISCO --- The San Francisco Giants officially announce that the team has reached an agreement on a five-year contract with outfielder Hunter Pence.

In a press release, Giants Senior Vice President and General Manager Brian Sabean said, “Ensuring that Hunter remained a Giant beyond this season was a top priority for the organization. He was an integral part in helping us win the World Series last season and he provides our club with great veteran presence, both on the field and in the clubhouse, with just all the energy and passion that he brings to the field every day.”

The contract, which goes through 2018, is reported to be worth $90 million. According to Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle, “The deal is straightforward: no signing bonus, a full no-trade clause and salaries of $16.5 million in 2014 and $18.5 million in each of the four subsequent years.”

This season, Pence started all 162 games—the only player in San Francisco history to do so. In the first 161 games, the outfielder hit .282 with 35 doubles, 27 home runs, and 96 RBI.
