If you are in San Francisco for Fat Tuesday, here's where to go
Top news here in San Francisco is all about celebrating Mardi Gras. From the streets of Hunters Point to the grand avenues of Pacific Heights, people in the City by the Bay will be celebrating. Many San Franciscans will be heading out.

Check out the Dirty Dozen Brass Band with its jazz-funk parade music through the Independent
It's much cheaper than flying to the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in order to experience the real thing.
Down at Fillmore Street you can see Bohemian Knuckleboogie blues being played on the horn at Rasselas, at Black Quarterback and at Yoshi's.
If you are near Valencia Street, there are two Fat Tuesday events there.
One is a Latin party with Boca do Rio and Forró Brazuca taking place at the Elbo Room. The other is described by sfweekly.com as "Amnesia sticks to American soil with the soulful California Honeydrops and the cinematic, Tower-of-Power-meets-Tom-Waits drama of Damon and the Heathens."
Well-known Ruby Skye is featuring tuba-playing with the Brass Mafia and, over the road you can find Biscuits & Blues and the aptly-named band, Fat Tuesday Band.
In the San Francisco East Bay? No problem. Here you can go to Ashkenaz and enjoy their weekly cajun/zydeco night. Tonight for Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras) they will be featuring Creole Belles andthe Aux Cajunals.
If you are in the Castro district there will be 2 for 1 cocktails at 7pm until close of business at the Cafe Flore on Market and Noe, in the Castro district itself. See the costume parade at 9.45pm. It's sure to be elaborate.
