San Francisco Bay Area: manhunt in Hercules (photos, video)

RICHMOND, Calif. -- Efren Valdemoro, who was on the run from two different police departments, was involved in a car chase in Richmond. The suspect drove to the Ranch 99 market in Richmond where he was shot and killed on Tuesday night.

On Tuesday night, in Efren Valdemoro's car, police discovered the body of Valdemoro's girlfriend, who remains unnamed.

Police believe his girlfriend had died before the manhunt that lead to Efren Valdemoro's death took place. Valdemoro's girlfriend had been kidnapped on Tuesday morning by Valdemoro.

The chase that ended in the Ranch 99 shopping center car park began when police officers saw Valdemoro in Pleasant Hill. When he got off the freeway at Central Avenue, police followed him and a car chase began.

"At the termination point of the pursuit, the suspect fled the vehicle and went into the Ranch 99 shopping center. Two CHP officers confronted the suspect. The suspect failed to obey commands to drop a weapon, in which the CHP officers discharged their firearms and the suspect suffered fatal injures inside the shopping center," stated Sgt. Trent Cross to ABC 7 News

Efren Valdemoro has been linked to other missing people, including Marcaria "Carol" Smart and Segundina "Rita" Allen, both aged in their 60s.

Valdemoro may also be linked to Frederick Sales, age 35, whose father was killed in his Hercules home last Friday. The car Valdemoro was driving belongs to one of the missing women and it was seen at the murder scene of Valdemoro's father.

"This is very complicated connection and [we have] pieces here that we're all trying to piece together at this point. We do have multiple missing people that are still in the case that are still outstanding and that we are still searching for," stated Hercules Police Department officer, Michelle Harrington in the Efren Valdemoro case.

No statement was made by the police as to what weapon was used by Valdemoro.

This doesn't say why these people were all involved together, there seems to be much more here than meets the eye.

"The car Valdemoro was driving belongs to one of the missing women and it was seen at the murder scene of Valdemoro's father." Shouldn't it be "Sale's father"?

It's sad to know that more and more people cannot deal with stresses and problems.
