Italians do voluptuous wines with intensity and style. Some great bubbles, such as Prosecco or Franciacortia--Berlucchi is one of my favorites--are always a divine way to start off an evening.
Dolcetto and Barbera have long been go-to wines. They are the everyday wines of Piedmont, one of the most fog-bound and divine Italian regions. Try Ratti or Chiarlo for some great examples.
Lambrusco is fun for its fizz and has divine acidity that helps it to pair with lots of foods. Lini is one of my favorites. Cin Cin,
