Voluptuous swimsuit model Kate Upton has been named "Model of the Year" by Style magazine. The Inquisitr reported Sept. 2 that the two-time Sports Illustrated cover girl will receive the award on Sept. 4 at that 10th Annual Style Awards.
And why not? It has been the Year of Kate, after all. Sports Illustrated labeled only part of the year for the media-ubiquitous blonde bombshell (the "Summer of Kate"), but she's been trending all year long.
Think about it: Kate Upton started the year off with the media buzzing about her sexy Mercedes commercial for the then upcoming Super Bowl. She followed that up with her second Sports Illustrated cover and all the publicity generated from the titillating idea that the photo shoot was conducted in subzero temperatures off the coast of Antarctica.
She's also been on the cover of Elle, Vogue, Cosmopolitan and other magazines.
She had the now infamous bare-breasted bareback photo shoot, a video of which was shared with TMZ. The video then went viral even though it showed the bare parts blocked out.
That video and a constant stream of sexy, bikini-clad, and/or partially nude Twitter photos keeps Upton's fans and followers apprised not only of what she's wearing but what she's doing. The model currently has nearly 1.1 million followers on the social media site.
She recently lit up Twitter by posting a photo of herself alongside golfing legend Arnold Palmer. It led some, like Yahoo OMG, to speculate that Upton's next venture might be the LPGA Tour.
Social media and Kate Upton have a great relationship. She got her her start from after being discovered in a YouTube video, a distinction that led Fashionista to label her the “Social Media Model."
She was named the "Hottest Supermodel On Earth" by Vogue magazine in May.
The 21-year-old swimsuit model also has been trying to break into acting. She had minor roles in 2011's "The Tower Heist" and 2012's "The Three Stooges." This summer she was in New York to film Nick Cassavetes' latest effort, "The Other Woman," which has a tentative release date for 2014.
So... Model of the Year? For the model who seems to be everywhere, what could be more fitting?
