Sexual harassment charges lead to firing of US Army general

A US Army two-star general was fired on March 28 after sexual harassment, inappropriate conduct, and alcohol charges were filed against him.

The army conducted an administrative hearing and review into the sexual harassment allegations against Army Maj. Gen. Ralph Baker, who served as commander of the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa.

General Carter Ham, head of US Africa Command, decided to fire Baker at the conclusion of the adminstrative review. The army reported that Ham the sexual harassment and alcohol charges led Ham to lose confidence in Baker's ability to command his troops.

Baker has been assigned to an administrative position in Washington, DC pending the outcome of a full disciplinary investigation.
