Sexual assault victim received apology note from Oregon rapist Cruz Bonilla

A rapist left a note of apology on the door of a woman he attacked in her apartment, police say. According to The Columbian, 33-year-old Cruz Bonilla broke into a 39-year-old Oregon woman's apartment in the town of Beaverton, and sexually assaulted and sodomized her.

In a police affidavit obtained by KATU, the sexual assault victim told police that she found the note on her door with an apology and a phone number where she could contact him. The rapist also encouraged the woman to contact police. The apology note, which was written in broken English stated the following: "I hope you don't hate me (phone number inside) if you wants and send me to jail please," Bonilla told his victim.

The assault victim told investigators that she was in her apartment at 1:30 a.m., when a man that she had never seen came through the sliding glass door. That's when Cruz Bonilla attacked the woman and sexually assaulted her. The attack occurred on August 15, 2014. Investigators were able to track down Cruz Bonilla in Hillsboro, where they arrested him and charged him with sodomy, first-degree sex abuse and first-degree burglary. He is currently being held in the Washington County Jail.

In a similar case, Arturo Garcia-Torres, was arrested for the rape of a woman in Valparaiso, Indiana, Arturo Garcia-Torres, a Mexican national and illegal immigrant, broke into the victim's apartment and raped her in 2004. During the rape, he apologized to her repeatedly.

Another rapist apologized to his victim in 2006. Court records show that 44-year-old Frankie Dale Crowley raped a 63-year-old elderly woman in her home. The rape victim told cops that a man aggressively entered her home through the front door and hit her in the forehead with a candle holder. He then proceeded to rape and sodomize the woman, according to Central Kentucky News.
