While a teacher's aide in Crown Heights, Taleek Brooks, has been accused of sexually abusing children and videotaping himself molesting children. It is important that parents take precautions with thier children and talk to them about the dangers of sexual abuse.
From an early age it is imperative that parents communicate with their children about ways to protect themselves. The converstion of who should and shouldn't be touching them must be addressed. Talk with your child about inappropriate and appropriate touching, and how to tell the difference. Also, communicate to your children that they can always come to you if they have a problem, that it is alright to let you know if an adult has been inappropriate with them.
If a child alerts a teacher that they have been abused by another teacher or memeber of the school staff, it is their responsibility to investigate it and report it to the administration. The administration can then alert the authorities. Child abuse is a serious crime and is not to be taken lightly, it is important that you tell your child to speak up if they are being harmed.
