Sexiest vampires from movies and television - my picks

Who are your sexiest vampire picks from movies and television? There have been many sexy vampires throughout the years, but these are my personal picks for the sexiest of all time:

1. Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård -Trueblood) - From TV, my number one pick for sexiest vampire character is Eric Northman, played by the delicious Alexander Skarsgård. On the HBO series Trueblood, Northman reigns supreme as a regional vampire sheriff in Bon Temps, Louisiana. Northman is said to be a Viking, possibly based on Scandinavian king Eric Bloodaxe.

2. Louis de Pointe du Lac (Brad Pitt - Interview with a Vampire) - Brad Pitt's portrayal of Louis in Interview with the Vampire made my top two spot as he is in my opinion, the sexiest vampire from any film. With his long blonde hair and striking green eyes (contacts of course, but nonetheless, striking and alluring), he definitely earned the nickname "luscious Louis."

3. Selene (Kate Beckinsale - Underworld series) - With her bright blue eyes and skin tight leathers, Kate Beckinsale stole many a man's heart as the vampire character Selene in the Underworld movie series. Selene was a former death dealer, the heroine and main character of the first two Underworld movies.

4. Count Dracula (Gary Oldman - Dracula) - Quite possibly one of the most romantic portrayals of Dracula, Gary Oldman stole my heart in this 1992 film. Oldman was the perfect pick as Bram Stoker's Dracula and he brought this timeless character to life more than any other actor has - before or since.

5. Santanico Pandemonium (Salma Hayek - From Dusk til Dawn) - In 1996 Quentin Tarantino brought us the vampire cult hit, From Dusk til Dawn. The breathtaking Salma Hayek plays Santanico, the vampire queen and head stripper at the ‘Titty Twister’ club in Mexico.

Some other sexy vampire contenders to consider:

  • Count Dracula (Gerard Butler - Dracula 2000) - In this reimagined adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula, Scottish hottie Gerard Butler portrays the resurrected Count. While this film didn't do well at the box office, it did become somewhat of a fan favorite due to producer Wes Craven and director Patrick Lussier's involvement, as well as its all-star cast.
  • Damon Salvatore (Ian Joseph Somerhalder - Vampire Diaries) - One of the newest vampire characters to cause a nationwide craze is Ian Somerhalder's sexy character Damon on the TV series, The Vampire Diaries. Damon is one of two vampire brothers, and is the quintessential bad boy. But even with his darker tendencies, he is not the most evil character on the show.
  • Queen Akasha (Aaliyah - The Queen of the Damned) - Adapted from Anne Rice's third novel, The Queen of the Damned was a 2002 movie starring the gorgeous actress, model and recording artist Aaliyah as Queen Akasha. This would be her final film as she died later that same year in a plane crash. Aaliyah exuded such sexuality in this role and captivated her audience much like Queen Akasha did her subjects.
  • Spike (James Marsters - Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel) - Actor James Marsters was a brilliant pick for Spike on the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and spinoff Angel (1997 to 2004). Spike became one of the most popular characters from both series. He was feared by demons and humans alike, but also showed in later episodes he could work to better humankind.
  • Mick St. John (Alex O'Loughlin - Moonlight) - Portrayed by Australian actor Alex O'Loughlin, vampire hottie Mick St. John was the primary character on the TV series Moonlight. St. John is a private investigator who unlike his vampire peers, refuses to hunt the innocent, including women and children.
