According to Tuesday's WFMZ News, a severely neglected dog was left in a kennel run outside of a Stroudsburg, Pa., shelter sometime between Sunday night and early Monday morning.
The dog, dubbed "Jacob," was left in the cold, with nothing to protect him from the elements at the Animal Welfare Society of Monroe County (AWSOM).
David Carbone, with the no kill animal shelter, stated:
They just left him like a piece of garbage,
Jacob's body revealed that he was the victim of neglect - the Maltese's fur was so horribly matted that one of his legs lost circulation; on Wednesday, the limb was amputated at the Pocono Peak Veterinary Center.
Though Jacob's prior life was shrouded in pain and neglect, his future is bright - as soon as he has recovered from the maladies resulting from his former lack of care, he will be placed up for adoption.
Anyone with information about who may have owned Jacob prior to his arrival at the shelter is asked to call: (570) 421-0931.
