Today the nominations for the 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards were announced. Eric Church leads the pack with seven nominations, with Hunter Hayes following close behind with six nominations.
There were several surprises in some of the categories. Hot concert headliner Kenny Chesney was shut out in the Entertainer of the Year category whereas Toby Keith was nominated in Male Vocalist of the Year. Newcomer Kacey Musgraves was nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year and Video of the Year after only releasing one song. Montgomery Gentry was shut out of the Vocal Duo of the Year, while Sugarland received a nomination even without releasing new material in the last year.
The 48th Annual ACM Awards will be broadcasted live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on CBS on Sunday, April 7th. Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan will share hosting duties.
