In Orlando music news this week there are a few different announcements:

Orlando band SoulSwitch has re-launched their Kickstarter. They have until March 6 to raise $10,000. Music fans need to jump on board and make sure the band hits their goal for the new CD.

The headliners for WJRR’s Earthday Birthday were announced and feature Orlando based musician Mark Tremonti’s band Alter Bridge.

Quite a few Orlando bands are in the running for Hard Rock Rising 2014 Global Battle of the Bands. More information is available in this Examiner.com article.

Also in music news, on Sunday night Orlando based singer/songwriter Amanda Cooksey was crowned Miss St. Petersburg. Up next is the Miss Florida USA pageant.

Wednesday at The BackBooth is the debut show for Orlando band Blessing A Curse. Also on the bill are Abandon All Ships, The Browning, My Ticket Home and I Am King for this show. Blessing A Curse has already released their five track debut EP which music fans can check out on the band’s Bandcamp and download it for only $1.

At Will’s Pub on Saturday is the CD release show for Join Hands debut EP “Poor Admiral.” Also scheduled for this FREE show are Orlando bands The Woolly Bushmen and Zap Dragon & The Attack with Central Florida band The Gangly Youth.

On Sunday at The Smiling Bison is the first ever Northern Fried Sundays, which will be a semi-regular event. Orlando bands The Honeyslides, The Strange Trip and BJ Sings will be performing live and the $7 cover charge includes a meal of Northern style fish fry and side dishes.

Monday, February 10

The Peacock Room - 1321 North Mills Ave. - Live music from Orlando band The Groove Orient at 9 p.m.

Sea Dog Brewing Co. - 8496 Palm Parkway - Live music from Orlando singer/songwriter Evan Taylor Jones from 4:30-7:30 p.m.

BB Kings Blues Club - 9101 International Dr. - Live music from Orlando band Blue Stone Circle from 7:30-11:30 p.m.

West End Trading Company - 202 S. Sanford Ave. (Sanford) - RPR presents open mic hosted by Dustin Stafford of Orlando band Homestruck Orchestra at 8 p.m. This FREE event is 18+.

Tuesday, February 11

The Red Lion Pub - 3784 Howell Branch Road - Twisted Tuesday with one man band El Dub for this 18+ show. This FREE event includes live music and other entertainment as well as a home-cooked meal, with a $1 donation to the Red Lion Community Emergency Fund. The live music starts at 7:30 p.m.

Smiling Bison - 745 Bennett Road - Live music from the John Krasula Jazz Trio at 7 p.m. for this FREE show.

Wednesday, February 12

BackBooth - 37 W. Pine St. - Norsekorea presents live music from Orlando band Blessing A Curse appearing with Abandon All Ships, The Browning, My Ticket Home and I Am King for this show. This is the debut show for Blessing A Curse. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are $13.

Jazz Tastings - 164 Lake Ave. (Maitland) - Live music from Orlando’s John Valeri Quartet at 7 p.m.

Smiling Bison - 745 Bennett Road - Jazz Garage, an evening of improvisational jazz music, hosted by Matt Lapham and featuring special guests at 10 p.m. No cover charge for this event.

Thursday, February 13

Will’s Pub - 1042 N. Mills Ave. - Live music from Orlando band Shak Nasti at 10 p.m. There is a $10 cover charge for this show.

BackBooth - 37 W. Pine St. - Live music from Orlando bands Entombed in the Abyss and The Floridian with Central Florida band It Came Without Warning along with Oceano and Reflections for this show. The doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets are $12.

BB Kings Blues Club - 9101 International Dr. - Live music from Orlando’s B.B. King All Star Band from 7:30-11:30 p.m.

On line everywhere - WPRK 91.5 - The Whitney Costner Radio Show airs from 12-2 p.m. every Thursday featuring some local music on the playlist and special in-studio appearances from Orlando bands.

On line everywhere - WOGR - Join Orlando singer/songwriter Mark Dawson every Thursday for his weekly radio show, “Making Noise with Mark Dawson,” from 9-11 p.m.

Friday, February 14

House of Blues Orlando - 1490 E. Buena Vista Dr. - Live music from Orlando’s Greg Warren Band and Alex Hayes along with Gainesville’s Jamie Davis Band for this all ages show. FREE tickets are available from the bands or they will be $5 at the door. The doors open at 7 p.m.

The Geek Easy - 114 S. Semoran Blvd. - Orlando singer/songwriter Marc with a C opening for Professor Shyguy for this FREE all ages show. The show will be followed by nerdy Karaoke hosted by Leslie Rising of Orlando band Claire and the Potatoes.

The Space - 1206 E. Colonial Dr. - PreCon II 2014: Pre-Party and Fundraiser for Little Econ Love Fest featuring live music from Orlando bands We’re All Gonna Die, Joy Wagon and This Tribe. There is a suggested donation of $5 as a cover charge. The doors open at 9 p.m.
