Seventh-grade boy suspended for holding pencil like gun

Michael Chaplin says he is "absolutely livid" that his seventh-grade son, Ethan, was suspended from Glen Meadow Middle School in Vernon, New Jersey, for twirling a pencil and allegedly holding it like a gun, New Jersey News 12 reported Friday.

Ethan said he was just twisting a pencil with a pen cap on it when a student behind him yelled, "He's making gun motions, send him to juvie," News 12 said.

The boy's father is not too happy about the incident.

"I think it's gross misconduct at its finest. They took something so minimal and took it so far over the edge," he said.

Not only was Ethan suspended for two days, he was forced to undergo a five-hour physical and psychological evaluation, which, News 12 said, came back clean.

“I was shocked because I’m like, how am I not going to come back to school? I didn’t even do anything,” Ethan said.

Vernon Schools Superintendent Charles Maranzano stood by the principal’s decision, Mikael Thalen said at Infowars.

“We never know what’s percolating in the minds of children,” Maranzano explained. “And when they demonstrate behaviors that raise red flags, we must do our duty.”

Apparently, those behaviors now include twirling a pencil.

Thalen said the boy's father detailed what was done to his son.

“The child was stripped, had to give blood samples (which caused him to pass out) and urine samples for of all things drug testing,” Chaplin told Infowars. “Then four hours later a social worker spoke to him for five minutes and cleared him. Then an actual doctor came in and said the state was 100 percent incorrect in their procedure and this would not get him back in school.”

The school has reportedly scheduled a meeting to discuss Ethan's return on Monday.
