Seven year old entrepreneur Julie Murphy has realized her dream of taking herself and her mom, Marie Fife, to Disneyland in Southern California.
Murphy raised $1,838.31 by selling lemonade for $0.50 each at an arts fair in northeast Portland, Oregon.
Julie Murphy's lemonade stand proved locally controversial as health inspectors threatened to fine the seven year old $500 for not meeting health standards.
After receiving public outcry against bureaucratic intervention, county officials ordered health inspectors to use "professional discretion."
Said Julie's mother:
We just really appreciate everything that everyone did. She got her lemonade stand, she had a good experience and that's all she wanted in the first place. And she met some really cool people.

Is it really worth a health inspectors time to go after a seven year old girls lemonade stand? How low can you be? Maybe they are subconciously upset because they didnt have a lemonade stand when they were young.....
why do we bother to have health inspectors for anybody ,when all the young kids can sell anything and not need a licence or get inspected
Don't you think people give the money because the little girl is poor? It's charity and why THE HECK would anybody stoop that low on a little girl's charity? Like anybody is going to drnk the lemonade...why else do you think she got 1k plus? people knew better...
She is acting like a grandiose adorable little kid. I loved doing this believing that I was a real business girl .. i thought about how good it would be to make money for my mommy... I really thought I had my own thing going on... She must have been one happy little girl...lucky her.
You know they tried to rip the girl off? They waited until she made money and once they realized she was making too much money, they knew they couldn't tax her, and top that off with the economy problems...these are scammers who were looking to take advantage and con them, They didn't like seeing that girl make so much money on her own as child- they wanted to jump in and grab that cash like the f'n vermin they are, It's a charity - do you expect people are going to pay for lemonade or pay ore "donate" to the toward the girl's vacation?
PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THESE LOW LIFERS. People are all about scams when the economy is down. WATCH IT IN BUSINESSES AND BE ALERT. People see everything as an advantage during these times. even the most ridiculous of things...
