The YouTube-viewed teen beating that shocked Chicago and got a strong reaction from Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Superintendent of Chicago Police Garry McCarthy, and persons throughout Chicago and beyond, has assisted in catching the seven teens who allegedly committed the crime. Of the seven, one is 17 and faces charges as an adult. Additionally, one of the attackers is a 15-year-old female, three are 15-year-old males, and two are 16-year-old males.

The teen charged as an adult is Raymond Palomino of the 3500 block of South Hoyne Avenue on Chicago’s South Side. He is charged with one count of robbery and one count of aggravated battery. The teens aged 15 and 16 were all given juvenile delinquency petitions for robbery and battery.
Due to their ages, the minors’ names were not released to the media.
Police learned the identities of the attackers by comments posted on the video, including Palomino – whose face is distinguishable in the video.
The attacks involved punching and kicking the victim’s head. According to Police, the attackers also took $180 cash and his wallet. The young man who is in his senior year at Curie High School on the city’s Southwest Side was treated at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center for abrasions and released.
Palomino is to appear in court today while the juveniles were turned over to authorities in the juvenile branch.
CBS is reporting that these attacks are comon-place and a very similar attack happened in October of last year.
