The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at the Magic Kingdom might not officially open until May 28, but its official dedication ceremony took place on Friday, May 2. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs took the stage, along with company chairman Tom Staggs, and used a special golden pickaxe to mark the ride's completion as the crown jewel of New Fantasyland.
As of May 28, guests will officially be able to ride the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Although the line promises to be long, FastPass+ is available to slash wait times for those who are willing to do some advance planning. Disney officially lists the thrill level as "Dark, Loud, Scary, Small Drops, Thrill Ride," but the ride is actually suitable for just about anyone of any age and bravery level. It's very smooth and incorporates dark ride elements with a family roller coaster. The trains sway on the track, but not in a way that induces fear.
The new ride marks the last major attraction in the Magic Kingdom's New Fantasyland expansion. The next two big projects coming down the pipeline are the Disney Springs reimagining of Downtown Disney, which will introduce its first completed phase in 2015, and the Avatar section in Disney's Animal Kingdom, which has a projected 2017 opening date.
