In 2010, Walt Disney World announced plans for the expansion. Mickey's Toon Town Fair closed in February of 2011 to make room. Snow White's Scary Adventure's closed in May, 2012.

New Fantasyland opened in stages. In October, 2012, Storybook Circus fully opened. It has a circus theme and is the new home to both Dumbo and Goofy's Barnstormer. The next stage was Enchanted Forest, which opened in December, 2012. It's based on the Disney movies Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid. Princess Fairytale Hall took the place of the Snow White ride in September, 2013. It gives guests a chance to meet some of their favorite princesses. There are other meet and greet areas in New Fantasyland as well.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a steel roller coaster that is family friendly. It takes you into the mine and you can see the dwarfs at work. Guests must be at least 38 inches tall in order to ride.
