Shortly after Efrain Esquivias most likely ended the illustrious career of a truly great fighter, Chris Arreola more than likely aborted the career of a manufactured one. While Esquivias earned a 9th round TKO in a featherweight firefight with the faded Rafael Marquez, Arreola blitzed and sacked Seth Mitchell in the 1st round for a very revealing TKO.
Let’s cut to the chase.
Seth Mitchell was never a world class fighter or even a good heavyweight. He was - and is - a great athlete, a former outstanding football player, and remains a great person. Unfortunately, "Golden Boy" and Al Haymon, thought they could build a champion in a division of devoid of stars, and banked on the potential of his good looks, frame and marketability.
But what they proved, is that sports (and Boxing), is still about talent at the world class level, and Seth will never be that. He's too engineered for football- and he can't tackle anyone for a title (or real contenders for that matter).
I personally hope Seth retires; and never becomes a stepping-stone for say... a Deontay Wilder, to build his resume on (Deontay would destroy him). In a world where decent people don't really exist, he's truly one of them, and I wish him and his family nothing but the best. Fortune favors the brave, and he’s already proved that.
Put those gloves right next to the cleats Seth.
