Seth MacFarlane puts famous boobs to music despite warning from above

Seth MacFarlane didn’t heed the warning from the future when William Shatner, in his role of Captain Kirk, warned him not to do the number about boobs. McFarlane sang the tune anyway and during his musical number he called out everyone from Meryl Streep to Naomi Watts as having bared their breasts in the movies. The camera cut in to show the squirming faces with horror among the actresses in the audience, who were in on the gag, according to the New York Daily News on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013.

MacFarlane’s opening number pointed out all the famous actress who unleashed their boobs in the name of cinematic excellence. With lines like, “"Meryl Streep we saw your boobs in Silkwood, Naomi Watts in Mulholland Drive," he covered the young and veteran actresses in Hollywood. Shatner came in on a screen from above with his warning to MacFarlane about not doing that number.

The actresses didn’t get the night off from acting as some, who purposely looked disgusted, played along for the sake of MacFarlane’s number. The actresses were well aware of what was going to happen, as they were clearly incorporated in the gag long before MacFarlane took the stage, the N.Y. Daily News points out.

Even with many being forewarned, MacFarlane did manage to muster up some nervous laughter and anxiety in the audience while belting out his tune about famous boobs. The vote is still out on MacFarlane’s hosting abilities for the 2013 Academy Awards, as some liked what he did overall while others thought he didn’t do so well, according to CNN on Monday morning. One TV critic summed up MacFarlane’s hosting gig at the Oscars as an “American Dud.”
