Have you ever looked at what you are selling on eBay, and then looked at your competition? Why should someone buy from you and not the dozen or hundreds of others selling the same thing? You can have great pictures, detailed listings, and keywords to set you apart, but there is still one thing missing… A guarantee.
People like guarantees, and feel safe when a buyer offers one. This is different from a return policy, but can actually compliment it. Let me show you what I’m talking about. I sell a lot of shirts, so I made up my own 4 point inspection guarantee that sets me apart from my competition. It goes like this:
Buy with confidence – This shirt goes through a 4 point inspection, and your satisfaction is guaranteed or your money back.
Collar – We check the COLLAR for wear and tear.
Buttons – We check all shirts for missing BUTTONS.
Sleeves – We check all SLEEVES for stains or rips.
Back and Front – We check the FRONT and BACK of all shirt for holes, rips, stains, or snags.
All shirts are in good condition unless otherwise stated, so buy today and SAVE big!
Thats the general idea of what I put in my shirt listings, and it’s obviously different for other non-clothing items. I have seen a huge lift in sales since I started using this guarantee, and I have even received notes from customers that they appreciate what I offer. Now, on the flip side, I have had customers take advantage of the guarantee and send their items back. This is few and far between, but really I offer a return policy anyway, so even if I didn’t have the guarantee in my eBay listings they could still return it.
If you are going to have a guarantee in your listings, then you better be prepared to live up to it. People do hold your listing to another level, and expect their item to live up to the value you are offering. This is a great way to grow your business for free, so give it a shot today!
