September 2 – 5, 2011

Dragon*Con – commemorating its 25th year – has become the largest multi-media, popular culture convention with a focus on science fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film on the planet – no, check that – in the UNIVERSE! Featuring a wide variety of events – from workshops and panels, to an art show and film festivals, to nightly concerts and a parade right down Peachtree Street – Dragon*Con promises a Labor Weekend jam-packed with non-stop, nerdy FUN!

Gaming geeks, Sci-Fi freaks, and Fantasy fans of every shape, size and species will descend upon downtown Atlanta for nothing short of a true spectacle of epic proportions. It will be easy to become star struck at this year’s event, which touts such big and beloved celebrities as Carrie Fisher aka Princess Leia of Star Wars fame, Elvira – Mistress of the Dark, and – the Holy Grail of Heroes to Trekkie Fans the world over – William Shatner aka Captain James T. Kirk of Star Trek reknown. Featured events include the 10th annual Dragon*Con Parade, Costuming Fashion Show, Autograph Sessions with Special Guests, Comic Book Babes Costume Contest, and Guest of Honor Awards Banquet. Off-site Dragon*Con affiliated events consist of a performance of “Into the Woods” at the Alliance Theatre (enter special promo code DRAGONCON10 at the online box office to receive 10% off tickets for shows on 8/31-9/4) and Dragon*Con Night at the Georgia Aquarium on Saturday, September 3 from 7 to 11 p.m. ($18 advance, $20 after August 31).

This year’s Dragon*Con is being hosted at some of Atlanta’s finest hotels including The Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Hilton Atlanta, Marriott Marquis Atlanta, Sheraton Atlanta Hotel, and Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel.  Needless to say, at the time of publication – Dragon*Con was reporting all of these hotels as completely booked for the weekend. Overflow hotels for this otherworldly encounter include Hilton Atlanta Airport, The Ritz Carlton, The Glenn, and W Atlanta Midtown for attendees who wish to turn their day at Dragon*Con into a STAY at Dragon*Con. If you have trouble finding an available room at any of the overflow hotels, there may be additional options for accommodations in the Midtown area, easily accessible by MARTA. Keep in mind this is a popular holiday weekend in the city and time travel hasn't been invented yet, so make your reservations as soon as possible or you risk missing out on all the fun.

Live long and prosper, y'all.
