What's on the menu at your kid's preschool?
It's hard enough to choose the right preschool for your little one, so checking out the preschool menu is often overlooked by many parents.
But what's being served at your kid's preschool is more important than you may think. Here's a few reasons why:
* Healthy snacks promote more focused, energetic preschoolers.
* Healthy snacks help build mental and physical development.
* Many preschoolers are overweight and lack well-balanced diets.
So how do you know if your kid's preschool is serving the right snacks? Look for a wide array of fresh fruits, veggies and whole grains that are being offered. Preschools should offer snacks from two different food groups.
Ideas can include cheese and crackers, apple slices and pretzels, or cucumbers and pita bread. Remember to bring any food allergies your child may have to the teacher's attention.
Looking to see if your preschooler is getting enough of what he or she needs? Then make your own customized plan based off this food pyramid designed just for preschoolers!
