Helen Woodward Animal Center, HWAC, the progressive, private, non-profit animal rescue organization located in Rancho Santa Fe, California, makes it their business to save animal lives and teach this to animal welfare leaders around the globe. They have been successful in their endeavors since 1972 because their efforts are not every day mundane type activities. They have fresh, inspirational ideas that attract the public and get the entire family unit involved.

All that being said, HWAC is getting ready to host their 26th Annual Spring Fling Gala, “Down the Rabbit Hole,” on Saturday, June 7th. They are facing a small dilemma, however. They are still in need of an incredible, animal-loving wait staff that are willing to hop in and save the day; helping orphaned animals along the way!

The Gala is the Center’s largest annual fundraiser each year. This year the event is being presented by EDCO.

Guests will begin arriving at 5:30 p.m. and will begin their departure at midnight. The event is being held at the Fairbanks Village Plaza right in Rancho Santa Fe.

Before attendees can celebrate this black-tie journey into Wonderland, however, The Mad Hatter Fling Committea, headed by Committee Chairs Marlaine Fetzer & Rebecca Vigil, is still seeking local servers (age 21+) with a few hours to spare for the pets and programs at Helen Woodward Animal Center.

With its renowned 5-star dining experience, highlighting delicious tastings from over 20 of San Diego’s top restaurants, the anticipated annual event is impossible to put on without the loving hands of an impressive group of dedicated wait staff. Spring Fling Restaurant Chair Anne Dizney has secured a delectable restaurant lineup including such fine-dining favorites as Searsucker Del Mar, The Fish Market, Casa Sol y Mar, The Melting Pot La Jolla, Truluck's Seafood, Steaks & Crab House, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, and Pamplemousse Grille, to name a few.

“These wonderful restaurants are made up of true animal-lovers,” stated Dizney. “They donate their time, food and chefs to create some of the finest dishes served throughout the city. The incredible volunteers who donate their time to serving these dishes are the final and equally important part of the equation. We are so grateful to them.”

After dinner is complete, the guests of the evening will toast each other on their “Unbirthdays” with local beer, wine and spirits. The entertainment for the evening will be provided by The Heroes.

Guests will also have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for the opportunity to win one of two extraordinary Wine Cellars (one valued at $1,000 and the other valued at $2,000). There will be exciting special guest appearances, fuzzy VIPs and a rousing live auction to keep the crowds enticed.

The live auction will feature such exclusive items as a relaxing Hawaiian holiday, a New York City vacation in a sky-high Penthouse boasting an impressive art collection and amazing views of Central Park and VIP concert experiences! Each auction item is as exciting as the previous and will all be up to bidders discretion.

Tickets to the 26th Annual Spring Fling Gala can be purchased in Silver, Gold and Platinum levels (ranging from $250 - $500 a ticket) with various special amenities included at each level. Platinum level seating includes a true VIP experience from private dining and bar servers, two bottles of fine wine, a chocolate and port pairing digestif with artisan cheeseboard, priority check-in/out, valet service, a charming Wonderland souvenir and an exclusive VIP gift for each guest.

But before any of these wonderful activities commence, volunteers are desperately being sought. If you would like to volunteer your services to either bartend or serve the guests at HWAC’s 26th Annual Spring Fling Gala, please contact Manager of Volunteer Services Megan McCarty at MeganM@animalcenter.org. For more information on the Gala or to purchase tickets, contact the White Rabbit at 858-756-4117 x350 or KellyR@animalcenter.org. All profits raised support the pets and programs at Helen Woodward Animal Center.
