Marcel Rodriguez is hoping to becoming an accountant one day.
Rodriguez has done well in her accounting classes at Florida International University in Miami, but she believes her best learing took place through service learning.
"I was part of a service learning program at Florida International University," said Rodriguez. "I helped out at a woman's shelter. I was not paid but I had the opportunity to gain valuable experience working with real life problems faced by the organization."
William Robertson a Miami college student agreed. "I am hoping to be a lawyer one day. But I think I learned more working at a legal aid clinic then I did in my pre-law classes. I think service learning is the way to learn a great deal about the community and how the real world works," said Robertson.
Miriam Perez a Miami college students does volunteer work at an animal shelter. "I am learning a lot of theoretical information in my classes. But I am really learning more by helping to run an animal shelter," said Perez.
