Advance Auto Parts have a slogan, “Service is Our Best Part”. It is my professional opinion that services provided by retail sales associates should not inconvenience customers. Advance Auto Parts on Maryland Ave. in Baltimore, Maryland inconvenienced me. I order my parts online and pick-up the part at the Advance Auto Parts store on Maryland Ave. Placing online orders can generate discounts. This store is approximately 9 mile from my home but my mechanic is located in the area. One morning I stopped in store to pick up a part that I ordered online. The store did not have the part and offered a different part. I asked if the part comes with the discount. I was told it did not. I was told I had to go home a place another online order. I was given an online discount before, but that day I was told to go home a place another online order. This was an inconvenience to me because I was miles from home, my car was towed to my mechanic in the area, and I needed transportation home and back to order the part.
I spoke to the store manager about this incident. The store manager was defensive and attempted to appease me. She said she did not have problems firing the person; but did not know who the employee was. She never asked me to identify the employee. I received a call from the district manager. He offered to me a $25 gift card, but I had to get the gift card from the store manager. The Advance Auto Parts store near my home was not one of the district manager’s stores; he said. The Maryland Ave store is not located conveniently near my home. As I mentioned before, services provided by retail sales associates should not inconvenience customers.
While this situation may have been an isolated incident, I will no longer patronize the Advance Auto Parts on Maryland Ave. I will not go to that store pick-up that $25 gift card.
