Another round of server merges is on the horizon for Telarans. Seven servers will be shoved into existing populations to support healthier numbers but there is another motive for the forced merges. According to the news piece posted yesterday, the merge will facilitate servers being able to support multiple languages at a later date.
The example given is that of a French gamer playing the game in French alongside a German gamer playing the game in German on the same server. Warfront, Conquest, and random dungeon match making will also improve with the populations mixed even though cross-shard queuing already exists.
Players on servers being marched onto another server will lose their names if the name is taken on the destination server. A free name change will be offered. Guild names that already taken will also be offered a free name change after the merge.
The following servers will be affected by the move. The North American merges will occur on Oct. 23 while the European merges will happen on Oct. 24. These are the servers:
Necropolis users will be migrated to Seastone.
Shatterbone users will be migrated to Wolfsbane.
Threesprings users will be migrated to Deepwood.
Volan users will be migrated to Bloodiron
Blightweald users will be migrated to Gelidra
Argent users will be migrated to Zaviel
Nomi users will be migrated to Brisesol
