Serra High School athletic director honored

Serra Athletic Director Dean Ayoob, CAA received the 2012 Norm Mackenzie “Rookie” Athletic Director of the Year Award last weekend at the California State Athletic Directors Association Conference in San Diego.

Ayoob was one of 12 athletic directors from throughout the state to receive the award, which is presented to "rookie" A.D.s who display superior leadership skills and are in their first one to four years in the role.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by my peers for this award,” said Ayoob. “I’ve received tremendous support from everyone here at Serra in my first two years as A.D., so this recognition is a reflection of the Serra community as a whole.”

Attending the conference and ceremony with Ayoob were Serra Assistant Principal of Student Life Marybeth Ortiz, Assistant Athletic Director John Kirby, and retired Serra Athletic Director Kevin Donahue.

“It was amazing to be among a group of talented athletic administrators,” Ortiz observed. “We are so lucky to have an A.D. who is so dedicated to our student athletes and sports programs.”
