On Sunday, Oct. 6, Rev. Louis R. Blakey, Jr., pastor of New Canaan Worship Center in Richmond, Virginia preached using the sermon title; "A Church With a No Ark Attitude" based on Genesis 7.

Most of us are familiar with the story of Noah and the ark in the Old Testament; however, Pastor Blakey gave four points about the story that should be considered.

The ark speaks of Noah's righteousness. No one who was not righteous could enter the ark. Today we can have a no ark attitude because of the righteousness of Jesus Christ. To think we are righteous without Christ is self-righteousness.

During Noah's day, only he and his family were spared. Today more than one family can be saved because of Jesus. That's because the church should have a no ark attitude.

The ark speaks of being shut in with God, but a church should not be exclusive with an ark attitude. Instead, the church should have a no ark attitude with an open door policy that does not shut people out because of being exclusive with their dress or doctrine.

An ark attitude is concerned about judgment, but a church with a no ark attitude is concerned about grace. The righteousness of one man became everybody's righteousness. Jesus didn't have an ark attitude. He had the message of the cross which was a message of love and a message of grace.

Let our church be a no ark church so that we don't shut people in or out. Let's have a no ark attitude.
