Rounding out the summer season, seafood festivals are scheduled throughout the month of September. Three of the most popular and delicious festivals in the state of Connecticut are listed below.
The 43rd annual Chester Rotary's Lobster Festival will be held on September 7, 2013 at the Chester Fairgrounds. The fairgrounds are located on Route 154 Middlesex Turnpike in Chester, CT. Stop by for lobster, food, live music, and dance from 5pm-10pm. The last lobster meal serving will be at 7pm. Meal options include twin lobsters, twin steaks, or surf and turf for $41 pre-ordered tickets or $45 at the gate, single lobster or steak $31 pre-ordered or $35 at the gate, and a children's hot dog meal for $5. Meals include potato, cole slaw, corn on the cob, and a roll. Beer, wine, and soft drinks are available for purchase. Coffee will be served for free.
Stop by the Oyster Festival at Norwalk's Veterans Park September 6-8th. Admission price is $10 on Friday, $12 on Saturday and Sunday, $10 any day for senior citizens, $5 for children ages 5-12, and free for active military members. Friday's events run from 6pm-11pm, Saturday from 11am-11pm, and Sunday from 11am-8pm. Free parking is available at Calf Pasture Beach & Norwalk Community College on Friday; on Saturday and Sunday at the above locations as well as city hall and Brien McMahon High School. Sunday is family day with 1 free child for every adult admission, unlimited rides from11am-2pm with a $15 bracelet, food, arts and crafts, and rides. Entertainment headliners include Max Creek on Friday, Village People on Saturday, and The Zoo on Sunday. Ferry cruises will be available on the hour, every hour starting at noon on Saturday and Sunday. The last ride departs at 6pm. Fee is $5 per person. A BMX Acrobatic Bike Show will also take place at the festival.
The annual summer clambakes on Sheffield Island continues until September 19, 2013. Depart on a ferry from South Norwalk and travel to Sheffield Island for a tour of the lighthouse and a clambake dinner in the tented pavilion. Round trip and dinner cost is $65 or $79 per person depending on your meal choice. Departure is at 6pm and return to the dock is at 10pm. For more information call (203) 838-9444.
