- Union County’s Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church will be hosting its 36th annual Greek Festival beginning Thursday, September 5 and running until Sunday September 8, 2013. The festival will feature authentic Greek cuisine such as pastitsio, souvlaki, moussaka, gyros, leg of lamb, and more. There will also be plenty of Greek desserts to go around as well as white Greek wine. Folk dancing and live music will provide plenty of entertainment, as well as a dance contest held Saturday night which will include a prize. Additionally, vendors will be selling jewelry, paintings, and other Greek goods. Admission is only $1 and parking is free. - West Windsor, N.J. is hosting its 3rd annual Irish Fest on September 7 & 8, 2013. Held in Mercer County Park, the festival costs a $5 donation (which go towards Trenton’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in March) and includes several Irish bands as well as great traditional Irish food. - Also held in Mercer County Park is the 14th annual Italian American Festival. From September 27-29 there will be an abundance of fantastic traditional Italian food, plus tons of crafts and Italian products. The festival has a great selection of music entertainment as well, with performances from big band music, more traditional Italian music, folk dancing, opera singing, as well as more contemporary favorites. Headlining on Saturday will be Southside Johnny & The Poor Fools (formerly Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes, known for their hit “We’re Having a Party”) as well as Lights Out, a tribute band for Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. The Italian American Festival is sure to be a blast, with a fireworks show closing out Saturday night’s festivities. More information can be found here at their official website.
