September happenings at the Tulsa Garden Center

Summer is winding down but there are still lots of events going on this September at the Tulsa Garden Center.

There will be an exhibit of paintings by members of the Oklahoma Society of Impressionists and a cocktail buffet on Friday, September 12 from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. The admission fee is $8.00 and a portion of the proceeds goes to the Tulsa Rose Garden. The deadline to reserve a spot is September 10 by calling Claudia Doyle at 918-906-5159 or Jody Ellison at 918-742-1418.

The Linnaeus Teaching Garden will sponsor Grandparents' Day on Sunday, September 14 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Bring the family for guided tours of the garden and to meet Fergie Bear. There will be complimentary souvenir photographs and the first 100 grandmothers will receive a free posy. For additional information, call 918-746-5125.

Fall is a great time to plant those perennials and cool weather vegetables. To that end, there will be a plant sale Saturday, September 20 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. The sale is sponsored by the Oklahoma Urban and Sustainable Garden Association, The Hosta Connection, Tulsa Area Daylily Society and the Tulsa Area Iris Society. Come early for the best selection.

The annual Evening of Wine & Roses will be held Friday, September 26. The premier tasting will be held in the Tulsa Garden Center Mansion from 6 - 7:30 p.m. and the garden tasting will be at the Woodward Park Municipal Rose Garden from 7 - 9:30 p.m. The deadline for reservations at this popular event is September 19.
