Below is a sampling of some of the beer events going on this month. If that's not enough, just wait until October, when we have Cleveland Beer Week, Brewzilla, and Fat Head's Celebration of the Hop Festival to look forward to. More on that later.

Saturday, September 6 - The Downtown Lakewood Business Alliance is holding it's 2nd Annual Lakewood Wine & Craft Beer Festvial sponsored by the Buckeye Beer Engine. The event is from 5-10 pm. VIP tickets get early entrance at 4 pm, but they are sold out. Your $30 ticket gets you a complimentary sampling glass along with 15 tasting tickets. There will be 2 oz. wine samples and 4 oz. beer samples given per ticket, and there will be additional tickets available for purchase. Along with the wine and beer, there will also be ten Lakewood restaurants serving up their top food choices, available for purchase.

This is a two story festival, held in the open air parking garage behind the INA and Bailey buildings (14701 Detroit Avenue), with the entrance being close to Detroit and St Charles. The event will be held rain or shine. There will also be games, live music, side show vendors, and 20 minutes classes at the Wine and Beer School (sponsored by the University of Akron-Lakewood). This is a unique addition to a beer festival.

Wednesday, September 10 - Another of the Brew at the Zoo events at the Akron Zoo will be held from 6-9 pm. This is a casual beer tasting for 21 and over only. Enjoy local craft brews and light appetizers while strolling through the zoo. The Beachcomber food truck will have food available for purchase also.

Saturday, September 13 - The third annual Chardon Brewfest 2014 will be held from noon until 5 pm at the Eltech building located at 100 Seventh Avenue in Chardon. The fest will feature beers from 24 brewers, most of which are from Ohio. Advance tickets are $25 and include 15 tastings and a mug. Tickets are $35 on the day of festival and designated driver tickets are $5. There will also be food and live music from Elm Street Blues, Stray Louie and Tyrone’s Blues Sinsation.

Friday, September 19 - A "first annual" event is to be held at the Thirsty Dog Brewing Company. This is a charity event for the Children's Miracle Network. Tickets can be purchased on line for $30. For that price you get to sample some of the best brews in the Cleveland/Akron area. You will also be treated to some good food catered by Vaccaro's Restaurant. If that's not enough, they will also have some great raffle prizes.

The event is called the 1st Annual Cleveland Office Beer Tasting Charity Event and you need to click that link to find it. A search didn't work for me.

Friday, September 19 - The Zoo Brew at the Nairobi Pavilion at the Toledo Zoo from 7-11 pm.

Saturday, September 20 - Ballpark Festival of Beers will be held at Canal Park (home of the Akron Rubber Ducks) from 4-7 pm.
