The Saturday Night Live sketch MacGruber has been made into the feature film MacGruber, parodying the 1980s spy MacGyver who was incredibly resourceful and able to escape any situation. MacGruber (Will Forte) is the only mullet-sporting American hero who is Green Beret, Navy SEAL and Army Ranger, with 16 purple hearts, 3 Congressional Medals of Honor and 7 presidential medals of bravery.
In this action comedy film, MacGruber's long time nemesis Dieter Von Cunth (Val Kilmer) has taken control of the X-5 missile, containing a nuclear warhead, and threatens to destroy Washington, D.C. Col. Jim Faith (Powers Boothe) and Lt. Dixon Piper (Ryan Phillippe) visit an Ecuadorian monastery to ask ex-special operative MacGruber for help. Initially, MacGruber refuses since he left that life behind 10 years ago after Cunth killed his fiancée Casey (Maya Rudolph) at their wedding, but later changes his mind.
Back in Washington, D.C. MacGruber gathers his old team back, except for Vicki St. Elmo (Kristen Wiig) who is now a musician. However, his team suffers an unfortunate accident involving some homemade C4. When Col. Faith is ready to abort the mission, MacGruber begs Piper to join his team, offering him sexual bribes. With Vicki on board as well, MacGruber finally has his team of three. Together they head off to Cunth's Las Vegas nightclub. On the way, MacGruber obsesses over the car license plate KFBR392 after the driver insults his Miata.
Once MacGruber, Vicki and Piper arrive in Las Vegas, they try to lure Cunth to a sting operation with Vicki pretending to be MacGruber. However, it does not go according to plan when MacGruber and Piper get attacked in their surveillance van by one of Cunth's henchmen, Hoss Bender (Andy Mackenzie). Then they try to stop Cunth at the warehouse from getting the passcodes to activate the nuclear warhead. A naked MacGruber distracts the guards by clenching a piece of celery between his buttocks, while Piper demobilizes the henchmen. However, they are too late to stop the transfer from completing. Later, MacGruber crashes Cunth's charity event despite Col. Faith's instructions to only observe.
After the fiascos, MacGruber has become a liability and Col. Faith calls off the mission, despite MacGruber offering more sexual favors. Back at MacGruber's trailer, the trio have some beer and MacGruber shares with Piper about he and Cunth's past. Just then, assassins approach and he uses Piper as a human shield to help Vicki and him escape.
Piper is upset and leaves, while the MacGruber and Vicki's feelings for each other escalate and they end up sleeping together. Afterward, MacGruber feels guilty and seeks forgiveness at Casey's grave, ultimately having sex with Casey's imagined spirit. By the time he returns to Vicki's place, it has been ransacked and Cunth has kidnapped her.
Mission or no mission, now it is up to MacGruber and Piper to save Vicki and stop the gloating Cunth from destroying Washington, D.C. This will require the most unorthodox and throat-ripping tactics yet!
Several WWE Superstars make cameo appearances, including Chris Jericho, The Big Show, Mark Henry, Kane, M.V.P. and The Great Khali. Other appearances include Derek Mears, who played Jason Voorhees in the reboot of Friday the 13th (2009), and New York Knicks' Amar'e Carsares Stoudemire.

McGruber with Will Forte and Kristen Wiig isn't on my list of "must sees". I think I'm probably the only person who didn't find the McGruber skits on Saturday Night Live funny.
