This Friday, September 20, is the 8th annual Run@Work Day and the 2nd annual Run@School Day. Started by the Road Runners Club of America, these events were created to help individuals incorporate more physical activity into one's daily life. The events help encourage companies, schools and communities to be more active in order to live a healthier, happier life.
While there aren't any "official" Run@Work or Run@School Day events in the San Diego area, runners are encouraged to start one of their own. Ask coworkers to join you for a run before, during or after your workday. Take the kids for a quick run around the fields at school before the day starts or after school is over. And it isn't too late to hold a more formal event. Head to your local running store such as Road Runner Sports in San Diego or Carlsbad, the Running Center in Carlsbad or Movin Shoes in Pacific Beach and Encinitas. Have an impromptu fun run with other runners in your community.
Head to Road Runners Club of America's official Run@Work Day webpage to get more information and ideas on how you can host your own event.
