Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Baltimore and Washington this afternoon:

The National Weather Service at Baltimore/Washington has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch effective until 10 p.m. this evening. At 5 p.m. radar is indicating the development of showers and thunderstorms across the Baltimore and Washington areas. One storm is moving east toward Annapolis MD. Other storms are rumbling across northern MD and into southern PA. Some storms may produce heavy rain, strong winds, localized flooding, and dangerous lightning.

Weather Summary

High pressure will produce hot and humid conditions in the Middle Atlantic region today. Temperatures this afternoon are in the lower to middle 90s. A cold front will move across the state later this evening, with showers and thunderstorms possible. In the wake of the cold front, slightly cooler and less humid air will overspread the region on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday with daytime highs in the 80s. Another front is expected to approach the area on Saturday, followed by much cooler weather on Sunday and Monday with highs only in the 70s.
