America Inspired

September 14, 2010 DVD: The Good Wife: The First Season [plus exclusive Behind-the-Scenes features]

Inspired by the Eliot Spitzer prostitution scandal and other prominent political sex scandals from Bill Clinton and John Edwards, The Good Wife: The First Season is a legal drama that examines the perspective of the women who stand by their husbands' acts of infidelity. Following the imprisonment of former Cook County State's Attorney Peter Florrick for his public sex and corruption scandal, his "good wife," Alicia Florrick must find a way to support her family and rebuild the tarnished reputation. She uses her law degree to get a job at a prestigious Chicago law firm, but must start at the bottom as a junior litigator. Newly back in the workforce after many years, she must find a way to balance both home and professional life, while dealing with the ongoing emotional and legal drama surrounding her husband.

Archie Panjabi, who plays the role of Kalinda Sharma, the law firm's in-house private investigator, won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2010. Julianna Margulies, who plays Alicia Florrick, won both a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Drama Television Series and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series in 2009.

The Good Wife: Season Two premieres on CBS on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, 10pm ET / 9pm CT.
