Anime publisher Sentai Filmworks announced earlier today that it has acquired the anime series “Soni-Ani: Super Sonico the Animation” for release in North America.
The 12-episode anime series, produced by White Fox (The World God Only Knows), gives the iconic Nitroplus mascot, Sonico, her own series. The anime is directed by Kenichi Kawamura (Ninja Scroll), with scripts from Yousuke Kuroda (BTOOOM!) and art direction by Yoshito Takamine (Broken Blade).
The series follows the adventures of Sonico, a bright-eyed and optimistic girl whose life is never dull. Between modeling, working at her grandmother’s bar, attending college and playing the guitar and performing as the lead vocals in the all-girl band, Fastest Speed in Space, Sonico never seems to run out of things to keep he busy, but with the help of her fellow musicians Suzu and Furi things never get too heavy to handle, well almost never.
“Soni-Ani: Super Sonico the Animation” will be available through select digital outlets soon and Sentai Filmworks has plans for a home video release. No official release date for the home release has been given at this time.
