Anime publisher, Sentai Filmworks today announced that it has acquired the action/fantasy anime series “Blade & Soul” for release in North America.

“Blade & Soul” is produced by the animation studio Gonzo (Strike Witches), and the series is based on the MMORPG of the same name from NCSoft. The anime is co-directed by Hiroshi Takeuchi (Bodacious Space Pirates) and Hiroshi Hamasaki (Steins;Gate), with art direction by Ken’ichi Tatefuji (Squid Girl) and it features original character designs from renowned Korean artist Hyung-tae Kim.

The series follows the journey of Alka, an assassin out for revenge against Jin Varrel, a member of the same “Blade Clan” as Alka, who was responsible for the death of Alka’s teacher. In her search for vengeance, Alka will encounter Hazuki, Karen and Roana, but there is no telling if the three unique warriors will join Alka on her quest, or if they have plans of their own.

Sentai Filmworks has plans for a home video release of “Blade & Soul”, but no official release date has been given at this time. The anime began airing in Japan in April, it is available now at Crunchyroll.com.
